Mercy Ships is a global charity that was founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens to bring hope and healing to the forgotten poor, mobilizing people and resources worldwide. Since that time, Mercy Ships has performed services valued at more than $1 billion, impacting more than 2.48 million of the world’s most desperate people. Mercy Ships is currently seeking a Managing Director for the current ship, Africa Mercy, as it returns for maintenance and prepares to be sent out again.

The Ship Managing Director is the ship’s executive leader in the field, responsible for ensuring that the ship and its crew deliver medical services and caring relationships with spiritual sensitivity and operational excellence. In collaboration with the ship’s Captain, the MD will lead the 400+ member crew in operating according to Mercy Ships’ organizational requirements and applicable maritime law. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality or healthcare management, with proven P&L experience which shows ability to manage a budget and effectively utilize resources in changing and evolving circumstances, and a track record of leading cross-cultural teams. He/she should also have a faith alignment with the mission of Mercy Ships and must live in, or be willing to relocate to Texas, preferably near the Tyler, Texas area.
