FSP Leaders is pleased to announce that Kevin Byerley officially accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer of Elevate USA in 2019. Kevin is not a new face at the growing non-profit that works to impact the lives of urban youth for the better. In fact, Kevin has been a part of the organization’s model for over 19 years. His journey began when he was a Teacher Mentor with Colorado UpLift before he moved into management roles with the Adventure Program, as Staff Operations Manager, and then as a vital contributor on the model replication team that helped to launch early Elevate affiliates. When Elevate USA was just an idea, Kevin was tasked with doing the work to form an organization to help launch and support the affiliate partners that would become Elevate USA.
For the past five years, Kevin has served as the Chief Program Officer of Elevate USA where he has supported the Elevate affiliates through coaching, training, national events, curriculum development, national evaluation, and more. Former Elevate USA CEO, Debbie Speck, says, “It is safe to say that there is no one who embodies the Elevate mission more than Kevin, as is evident from the relationships that Kevin built with students as a Teacher Mentor over a decade ago that remain strong and central to his life today. Kevin’s strong sense of calling to the Elevate mission and genuine love for Elevate staff and students make him the perfect fit as the next CEO of Elevate USA.”
FSP Leaders’ President, Greg Barnes, added to the enthusiasm by noting, “Kevin has been doing this kind of work – mentoring youth so that they might go on to have brighter, more fulfilling futures – for the entirety of his career. Elevate’s mission is part of the fabric of who he is. We love seeing individuals with this kind of passion move into the next rewarding phase of leadership.”
